The non-turbo 1.5 cars, such as the MG5 and most ZS versions, generally use a conventional maintenance-free flooded battery. Turbo models with automatic start-stop, including many HS, RX5 and MG7 versions, need an EFB or AGM battery to cope with repeated restarts. On the petrol range the battery is in the engine bay, usually on the left side, and access is straightforward. Start-stop cars often have a sensor on the negative terminal that has to be refitted correctly and left undamaged.
