Who makes Varta batteries and what they are known for
Varta started in Hagen, Germany, in 1887 and its automotive batteries are now made by Clarios, one of the largest car battery manufacturers in the world. Clarios supplies original batteries to many European carmakers, so a Varta is often the closest match to what a German car was built with. The range covers conventional, EFB and AGM types in DIN sizes.

Heat shortens battery life mainly by corroding the positive grid and drying out the electrolyte. Varta uses a stamped PowerFrame grid, which is built to resist corrosion better than older cast or expanded grids, and its AGM models are sealed so they do not lose water in normal use. Who makes Varta car batteries?
Varta automotive batteries are made by Clarios, the company that was formerly the battery division of Johnson Controls. The brand itself is German and dates back to 1887. Clarios also supplies factory-fit batteries to many European carmakers, which is why Varta sizes match those cars so closely.
Which Varta do I need for a start-stop car?
Check the label on the battery in the car. If it says AGM, fit Silver Dynamic AGM. If it says EFB, fit Blue Dynamic EFB or step up to AGM. A conventional Blue or Silver Dynamic should not go into a start-stop car, because it will wear out quickly.
Does a new Varta need to be registered to the car?
That depends on the car, not the battery brand. Many BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen models with a battery sensor expect the new battery to be registered so charging is adjusted. Our technician checks this for your model and does it on site where the car requires it.
Can you replace my battery with a Varta at the roadside?
