Battery services
Mobile car battery services, done where the car is
Four services, one visit. A technician tests the battery first, then jump-starts or replaces it at the roadside, at home or in your parking bay.
Battery services at your car
Jump start, battery testing or a full battery replacement
One visit covers all three. The technician tests first, then does only what the readings call for, where the car is stopped.

How it works
From your location pin to a car that starts
Four steps, and you know what is happening at each one. Nothing is fitted until the battery has been tested.
- 1
Share where the car is
Send a location pin with the road name, direction of travel and the nearest exit or landmark. In a basement, add the level and bay.
- 2
Confirm the car details
Make, model and year, plus a photo of the battery label if you can. That is how the right battery gets loaded.
- 3
Get an arrival estimate
We check access and technician availability, then tell you when to expect us before anyone sets off.
- 4
Test, then jump or replace
The technician tests the battery, explains the reading and carries out a jump start or a replacement. The car is started before he leaves.
Why 800MyBatt
Three ways to deal with a dead battery, compared
A roadside battery specialist is not the only option. Here is how it stacks up against a tow to a workshop or a borrowed set of jump leads.
| What you get | 800MyBatt at your car | Tow to a workshop | Jump leads from a passer-by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it gets fixed | Where the car is stopped | After a tow and a wait | Where the car is stopped |
| Battery tested before anything is replaced | Yes | Depends on the workshop | No |
| Right battery matched before arrival | Yes | Whatever is in stock | No |
| Alternator and starter checked | Yes | Yes | No |
| Registration for European cars | Yes | Some workshops | No |
| Works in basement and mall parking | Yes | Tow truck height limits | Needs a second car close by |
| Warranty on the new battery | Up to 24 months | Varies | No |
| Old battery taken for recycling | Yes | Yes | No |
| Pay by card, cash, Tabby or Tamara | Yes | Varies | No |
A tow is still the right answer when the fault is not the battery. If our test points to something else, we say so and help arrange recovery.
Battery types
Car battery types: flooded, EFB, AGM and 12V lithium
The technology has to match what the car was built with. Here is what each type is and which cars use it.
Flooded (maintenance-free)
StandardLead plates in liquid acid, sealed top, often calcium alloy grids.
Most Japanese, Korean and older cars without start-stop.
No
EFB
Enhanced floodedFlooded design with reinforced plates and a fleece layer that holds the active material in place.
Entry-level start-stop cars and cars with higher electrical demand.
Yes
AGM
Absorbent glass matAcid held in glass-fibre mats. Sealed, spill-proof, fast to recharge.
Start-stop with energy recovery, most modern German cars, boot-mounted batteries.
Yes
12V lithium
Low-voltage Li-ionA compact lithium pack with its own electronics in place of a lead-acid battery.
Some newer EVs and performance cars. Usually a dealer or workshop job.
Varies
Rule of thumb: replace like for like. An EFB car can move up to AGM, but an AGM car should never be fitted with a standard battery.

Questions
Roadside battery questions, answered straight
Short answers to what drivers ask before and during a battery call-out.
How long does a car battery replacement take at my location?
On most cars the fitting itself is typically 15 to 30 minutes once the technician is at the car. Batteries under a seat or in the boot, and cars that need registration, take longer. Travel time is separate and depends on your location and traffic.
Is a jump start safe for a new car with start-stop?
Yes, when it is done with a regulated booster at the manufacturer jump points and in the right clamp order. The risk comes from reversed leads or poor connections, which is why a trained technician with the right equipment matters.
How do I know if it is the battery or the alternator?
If the car starts with a jump and keeps running but will not restart later, the battery is the likely cause. If it starts and then dies, or the battery light stays on while driving, suspect the alternator. A charging test confirms it in minutes.
Can I fit a normal battery in a start-stop car to save money?
It will start the car, but it is a false saving. A standard battery is not built for constant restarts and deep cycling, so it wears out quickly and the start-stop system may stop working. Fit AGM or EFB as the car was designed for.
