An AC system is sealed, so if the gas is low it has gone somewhere. Filling it without checking is why many recharges last only a few weeks. This service starts with a pressure and leak check, then removes air and moisture with a vacuum pump before any new gas goes in.

Where access and equipment allow, the recharge is done where the car is parked, at home or at the office. If the check finds a leak in a hose, the condenser or the compressor, we tell you, and the repair is done in a workshop before the system is filled.

Which gas does my car use?

Check the AC label under the bonnet, usually on the front panel or the underside of the bonnet. It names R134a or R1234yf and gives the fill weight in grams. Many cars built in the last several years use R1234yf. The technician confirms it before filling.

Why did my AC lose gas?

Gas escapes through a leak, most often at a hose joint, a service valve, the condenser at the front of the car or the compressor shaft seal. A very slow loss over many years can be normal. A system that needs filling every few months has a leak that should be repaired.

Can the gas be filled at my home or office?

Usually yes, if the car is parked where the technician can work with the bonnet open and the engine running. Some basements have poor ventilation or access limits, so tell us where the car is. If a leak repair is needed, that part is done in a workshop.

What happens if a leak is found?

We show you where it is and explain the repair. Filling a system with a known leak wastes the gas, so the usual advice is to fix it first. Small seal and valve leaks are quick workshop jobs. A condenser or compressor leak takes longer and needs parts.
