About the service

Tyre Puncture Repair: how we handle it

Most punctures are a nail or screw in the tread, and those can usually be repaired without replacing the tyre. A technician comes to the roadside, your home or a car park, removes the object, repairs the hole and inflates the tyre to the correct pressure. Send your location pin and the tyre size printed on the sidewall.

Not every tyre can be saved. Damage in the sidewall or shoulder, a large cut, or a tyre that was driven flat cannot be repaired safely, and an honest technician will say so. In that case the options are fitting your spare or arranging a replacement tyre. Arrival time depends on location and traffic.

Which punctures can be repaired?

Small holes in the central tread area, typically from a nail or screw, on a tyre with legal tread depth and no internal damage. The technician checks the position and size of the hole and the condition of the tyre before deciding.

When can a tyre not be repaired?

When the damage is in the sidewall or shoulder, when the hole is a long cut instead of a small puncture, when the tyre was driven flat and the inside is damaged, or when the tread is worn out. Old, cracked tyres are also better replaced than repaired.

Is a repaired tyre safe on the highway?

A correctly repaired tread puncture is fine for normal use. Check the pressure again after a day or two. Run-flat tyres and high-speed-rated tyres have stricter rules from their manufacturers, so the technician will advise if repair is suitable for yours.

What if I do not have a spare wheel?

Many newer cars carry only a sealant kit. If the tyre cannot be repaired and there is no spare, we can arrange a replacement tyre in your size or a flatbed to a tyre shop. Tell us the tyre size from the sidewall when you call.
