How it works

From your location pin to a car that starts

Four steps, and you know what is happening at each one. Nothing is fitted until the battery has been tested.

  1. 1

    Share where the car is

Send a location pin with the road name, direction of travel and the nearest exit or landmark. In a basement, add the level and bay.

  2. 2

    Confirm the car details

Make, model and year, plus a photo of the battery label if you can. That is how the right battery gets loaded.

  3. 3

    Get an arrival estimate

We check access and technician availability, then tell you when to expect us before anyone sets off.

  4. 4

    Test, then jump or replace

The technician tests the battery, explains the reading and carries out a jump start or a replacement. The car is started before he leaves.

A pin alone can land a technician on the wrong carriageway or the wrong parking level. These four details get him to your bonnet first time.

  • Location pin

Shared from WhatsApp or Google Maps, taken at the car.

  • Road and direction

The road name and which way you were heading.

  • Nearest exit or landmark

An exit number, petrol station, mall gate or building name.

  • Where the car is stopped

Lay-by, service road, driveway, or basement level and bay number.

On a fast road, stay behind the barrier and away from traffic. We confirm whether the stopping point can be reached safely before dispatch.

Why 800MyBatt

Three ways to deal with a dead battery, compared

A roadside battery specialist is not the only option. Here is how it stacks up against a tow to a workshop or a borrowed set of jump leads.

Why batteries fail

Why car batteries fail sooner in the UAE

Heat is the main reason. It speeds up the chemistry that wears a battery out, and the damage adds up quietly until one morning the car will not crank.

  1. Under-bonnet heat

High temperatures corrode the plates inside the battery and evaporate water from the electrolyte. The wear is permanent.

  2. Short city trips

Each start takes a big bite of charge. A ten-minute drive with the AC on full does not put it back.

  3. Cars left parked

Alarms, trackers and control units draw power while the car sits. Weeks of that, in the heat, flattens a healthy battery.

  4. Heavy electrical load

AC fans, screens, chargers and dashcams keep the battery working hard, especially at idle in traffic.

  5. Loose or corroded terminals

A poor connection stops the battery charging properly and can look exactly like a dead battery.

  6. Charging faults

A weak alternator undercharges the battery, and a faulty regulator overcharges it. Both shorten its life.

Battery care

How to protect your car battery in the heat

None of this makes a battery last forever, but together these habits buy real months and cut the odds of a no-start.

  1. Park in shade or a basement when you can

Lower under-bonnet temperatures slow the wear that heat causes.

  2. Give it one longer drive a week

Thirty minutes at steady speed recharges what short trips take out.

  3. Switch off loads before you switch off

AC, lights and screens off first, so the next start is easier.

  4. Keep the terminals clean and tight

White or green crust adds resistance. A quick clean restores the connection.

  5. Test before summer

A battery test in spring finds a weak battery before July does.

  6. Leaving the car for weeks? Plan for it

Ask someone to drive it, or book a test for the day you are back.

Battery types

Car battery types: flooded, EFB, AGM and 12V lithium

The technology has to match what the car was built with. Here is what each type is and which cars use it.

TypeHow it is builtUsed inStart-stop

Flooded (maintenance-free)

Standard

Lead plates in liquid acid, sealed top, often calcium alloy grids.

Most Japanese, Korean and older cars without start-stop.

No

EFB

Enhanced flooded

Flooded design with reinforced plates and a fleece layer that holds the active material in place.

Entry-level start-stop cars and cars with higher electrical demand.

Yes

AGM

Absorbent glass mat

Acid held in glass-fibre mats. Sealed, spill-proof, fast to recharge.

Start-stop with energy recovery, most modern German cars, boot-mounted batteries.

Yes

12V lithium

Low-voltage Li-ion

A compact lithium pack with its own electronics in place of a lead-acid battery.

Some newer EVs and performance cars. Usually a dealer or workshop job.

Varies

Rule of thumb: replace like for like. An EFB car can move up to AGM, but an AGM car should never be fitted with a standard battery.

Omar K.Sheikh Zayed Road

Car died at a petrol station off Sheikh Zayed Road. I sent the pin and said which side of the road I was on. The technician tested the battery first, showed me the reading, then swapped it. Card payment on the spot.

James W.Dubai Marina

5 / 5

Basement P3 in the Marina, low ceiling, no chance for a tow truck. He came down with a booster and a tester. Turned out the battery only needed a jump, so that is all he did. Honest.

Aarav S.Al Quoz

5 / 5

Needed an AGM for a start-stop car. They asked for a photo of the old battery label before coming, so the right one was in the van. Registered it to the car as well.

Maria D.Jumeirah Village Circle

4 / 5

Evening traffic made it later than the first estimate, but they messaged to say so. The fitting itself was quick and he checked the charging voltage before leaving.

Muhammad R.Mussafah

Pickup would not crank at the yard. Battery tested fine, the terminal was loose and corroded. He cleaned and tightened it and did not try to sell me a battery.

Sarah M.Dubai Hills Estate

Paid with Tabby, which helped that week. Old battery was taken away, the new one came with the warranty card filled in. Would call them again.

Questions

Roadside battery questions, answered straight

Short answers to what drivers ask before and during a battery call-out.

Read all questions and answers

My car will not start. Is it the battery?

Often, but not always. A flat or worn battery is the most common reason a car will not start, and the usual clues are slow cranking, rapid clicking or dim dashboard lights. The technician tests the battery, starter and charging first, then tells you what the readings show before anything is replaced.

How soon can a technician reach me?

It depends on where you are, the traffic, how easy the car is to reach and which battery it needs. We do not quote a fixed time. Send your location pin on WhatsApp or call, and you get an arrival estimate before the technician is dispatched.

Can you reach a car in a basement, mall or airport car park?

Yes, in most cases. Technicians carry portable booster packs and testers, so the service van does not need to park beside your car. Tell us the car park name, level and bay number, and mention any height limit or access gate so the technician arrives prepared.

Should I jump-start the car or replace the battery?

Test first, then decide. If the battery went flat for a clear reason, such as lights left on, and it tests healthy, a jump start is enough. If the test shows low state of health or a failed cell, a jump only buys a few starts and replacement is the sensible choice.

Which battery fits my car?

The correct battery matches four things: case size, terminal layout, capacity (Ah) and technology (flooded, EFB or AGM). The surest reference is the label on the battery already fitted. Send us the make, model and year, or a photo of that label, and we confirm the match before the technician sets off.

Does a start-stop car need an AGM battery?

It needs either AGM or EFB, whichever the manufacturer fitted. A car that left the factory with AGM must get AGM again. A car that came with EFB can take EFB, and can often be upgraded to AGM. Check the label on the existing battery or send us a photo.

How long does a car battery last in the UAE?

Workshops in the UAE commonly quote two to three years, which is shorter than in cooler countries. Heat is the main reason. Some batteries go longer with regular long drives and shaded parking, and some fail sooner with short trips, long periods parked or a charging fault.

How long is the battery warranty?

Batteries we fit come with a warranty of up to 24 months. The exact period depends on the brand and battery type, and it is written on your invoice or warranty card at the time of fitting. Ask the technician to confirm the period before the battery goes in.
