How Land Rover cars treat their batteries in the UAE

Battery technology

AGM for the main battery on virtually all models with stop-start, in large DIN sizes. The auxiliary battery is a smaller AGM unit that holds the electrics steady during engine restarts. Older Discovery 3 and early Range Rover Sport models without stop-start may run a single battery. Mild-hybrid versions add a 48V battery.

Fitting and registration

Position depends on model and year: under the bonnet near the bulkhead on many Range Rover, Sport and Discovery versions, under the boot floor on the Velar, and inside the cabin on the current Defender. Covers and brackets take time. After fitting, the battery monitoring system should be reset with a diagnostic tool.

Does a Range Rover have two batteries?

Most models with stop-start do: a large main battery that starts the engine and a smaller auxiliary battery that keeps the electrics stable during restarts. They age at different rates. We test each one separately, so you replace the one that has failed, not both by default.

Does a Land Rover need a BMS reset after a new battery?

It is recommended. The battery monitoring system stores the condition of the old battery and adjusts charging to it. A reset with a diagnostic tool tells the car a new battery is fitted, so it charges correctly and restores stop-start. We carry out the reset on site.

Why does my Land Rover show many warnings at once?

When voltage dips during cranking, several control modules log faults together, so suspension, gearbox and stability warnings can all appear from one weak battery. It is worth testing the battery before chasing each fault. If the battery tests healthy, the car needs proper diagnosis at a workshop.

Can you replace a Range Rover battery at my home or office?

Yes. The technician brings the AGM battery, tools and diagnostic equipment to the car, including basement parking. It takes longer than on a simple car. Send the model, year and location pin; arrival depends on location, traffic and access, and we give an estimate before dispatch.
