Questions
Car will not start
My car will not start. Is it the battery?
Often, but not always. A flat or worn battery is the most common reason a car will not start, and the usual clues are slow cranking, rapid clicking or dim dashboard lights. The technician tests the battery, starter and charging first, then tells you what the readings show before anything is replaced.
Why does my car click when I turn the key or press start?
Rapid clicking usually means the battery has too little charge to turn the starter motor. The starter solenoid engages, the voltage collapses, it drops out and tries again. A single heavy click with bright lights points more towards the starter or a bad connection. A battery test separates the two.
How soon can a technician reach me?
It depends on where you are, the traffic, how easy the car is to reach and which battery it needs. We do not quote a fixed time. Send your location pin on WhatsApp or call, and you get an arrival estimate before the technician is dispatched.
Can you reach a car in a basement, mall or airport car park?
Yes, in most cases. Technicians carry portable booster packs and testers, so the service van does not need to park beside your car. Tell us the car park name, level and bay number, and mention any height limit or access gate so the technician arrives prepared.
Do I need to stay with the car?
Someone with the key needs to be there. The technician has to open the bonnet, test the battery, start the engine and confirm with you which battery is being fitted. If you cannot stay, a family member, colleague or driver holding the key can meet the technician.
Can you help on Sheikh Zayed Road or a highway shoulder?
Yes, where the car is stopped somewhere safe and accessible, such as a lay-by, service road, petrol station or wide hard shoulder. Share your pin, the road and your direction of travel. If the spot is unsafe to work in, we will say so and advise recovery to a safer place first.
Do you work at night and on public holidays?
Yes. The service runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends, Ramadan evenings, Eid and other public holidays. Call or send a WhatsApp message at any hour. Arrival still depends on your location, traffic and access, and you get an estimate before dispatch.
Questions
Jump start and flat batteries
Is jump-starting safe for modern and start-stop cars?
Yes, when it is done correctly. Our technicians use a protected booster pack and connect to the jump points the manufacturer specifies, which on many cars are under the bonnet even when the battery is in the boot. Wrong connections are what damage electronics, which is why we advise against improvised cable jumps.
Should I jump-start the car or replace the battery?
Test first, then decide. If the battery went flat for a clear reason, such as lights left on, and it tests healthy, a jump start is enough. If the test shows low state of health or a failed cell, a jump only buys a few starts and replacement is the sensible choice.
How long should I drive after a jump start?
Plan on at least 30 minutes of continuous driving, ideally on an open road instead of stop-go traffic. That puts back some charge but rarely all of it. An alternator is not a battery charger, so a deeply drained battery may need a proper charge or a test.
Why did my battery die again the next day?
The battery is probably no longer holding charge, or something is stopping it from being charged. The three usual causes are a worn-out battery, an alternator that is not charging properly, or a parasitic drain while the car is parked. A test of the battery and charging system shows which one.
Can a completely dead battery be recharged?
Sometimes. A healthy battery drained once by lights or a door left open usually recovers with a slow, full charge. A battery that is old, has sat flat for days or has a failed cell will not hold charge again, whatever charger is used. Testing after charging gives the answer.
I left my lights on overnight. Do I need a new battery?
Usually not. A jump start gets the engine running, and a healthy battery recovers after a good drive or a full charge. One deep discharge does take some life out of it, so ask for a test. If the battery was already weak, this is often the event that finishes it.
My car has been parked for a month. Will it start?
It may not. Modern cars draw a small current for alarms and control units even when locked, and heat speeds up self-discharge. After four weeks many batteries are too low to crank. If you travel often, have someone drive the car for 30 minutes each week or use a battery maintainer.
Questions
Battery replacement
Which battery fits my car?
The correct battery matches four things: case size, terminal layout, capacity (Ah) and technology (flooded, EFB or AGM). The surest reference is the label on the battery already fitted. Send us the make, model and year, or a photo of that label, and we confirm the match before the technician sets off.
How long does a car battery replacement take?
On most cars the change itself takes around 15 to 30 minutes once the technician is with the car. It takes longer when the battery sits in the boot, under a seat or behind trim, or when the car needs battery registration. Travel time to you is separate.
Will I lose my radio, clock or seat settings?
In most cases no. The technician can connect a memory saver that keeps the car powered while the old battery is out. On some cars the clock, one-touch windows or steering angle sensor still need a quick reset afterwards, and the technician does that before leaving.
Does a BMW or Mercedes need battery registration?
Most modern BMWs do. The new battery has to be registered with a diagnostic tool so the car resets its charging strategy, and coded if the type or capacity changes. Mercedes-Benz models vary: many adapt on their own, some need a reset. Tell us the model and year and we check.
What happens to my old battery?
The technician takes it away for recycling, so you do not have to dispose of it. Car batteries contain lead and sulphuric acid and must not go in general waste. Through recycling, the lead and the plastic case are recovered and used again, often in new batteries.
What if the battery is not the problem?
Then we tell you and do not fit a battery you do not need. If the test shows a healthy battery, the fault usually lies with the starter motor, alternator, a connection or a fuel or immobiliser issue. The technician explains the readings and can arrange towing or a workshop visit.
Questions
Battery types and brands
What is the difference between AGM and EFB?
Both are built for start-stop cars, but AGM is the stronger design. An AGM battery holds its acid in glass-fibre mats, is fully sealed and copes with deeper, more frequent cycling. An EFB is a reinforced wet battery for simpler start-stop systems. The label on your current battery says which you have.
Does a start-stop car need an AGM battery?
It needs either AGM or EFB, whichever the manufacturer fitted. A car that left the factory with AGM must get AGM again. A car that came with EFB can take EFB, and can often be upgraded to AGM. Check the label on the existing battery or send us a photo.
Can I fit a normal battery in a start-stop car?
It will start the car, but we advise against it. A standard flooded battery is not built for the constant restarts and partial charging of a start-stop system, so it tends to fail early. The start-stop function may also stop working and battery warnings can appear.
Which battery brand copes with UAE heat?
No single brand suits every car. Established makes such as Varta, Bosch, Amaron, ACDelco, Exide and Solite are all widely fitted in the UAE. What matters more is the right technology and size for the car, a recent manufacture date and correct fitting. We advise based on your car and how you drive.
Are the batteries genuine, and how do I check the manufacture date?
We supply new, sealed batteries from the brands listed on this site. Every battery carries a date code on a sticker or stamped into the case, and the format differs by brand. Ask the technician to show you the label and explain the code before the battery is fitted.
Is a bigger Ah battery better?
Not automatically. A slightly higher capacity is fine if the battery fits the tray, the clamps and the terminal layout. A much larger one may not fit, and cars with a battery management system expect the registered capacity. Staying close to the manufacturer figure is the safe approach.
Do hybrids and electric cars have a 12V battery?
Yes. Hybrids and EVs use a 12V battery to power the control units, locks and lights and to switch on the high-voltage system. When it goes flat the car will not go into ready mode, even with a full traction battery. We test and replace the 12V battery only.
Questions
Battery life in UAE heat
How long does a car battery last in the UAE?
Workshops in the UAE commonly quote two to three years, which is shorter than in cooler countries. Heat is the main reason. Some batteries go longer with regular long drives and shaded parking, and some fail sooner with short trips, long periods parked or a charging fault.
Why do batteries fail more in summer?
Heat speeds up the chemical wear inside the battery. High under-bonnet temperatures accelerate grid corrosion and evaporate water from the electrolyte, and the air conditioning and fans add electrical load. The damage builds through the hot months, so a weakened battery often gives up in summer or soon after.
Does basement or shaded parking help the battery?
Yes, it helps. A car parked in a basement or under shade starts each trip cooler than one left in direct sun, which slows the heat-related wear on the battery. It does not remove engine heat while driving, so it extends battery life without making the battery immune.
Does the AC drain the battery?
Not while the engine is running, because the alternator supplies the AC fans and compressor clutch. It becomes a drain when the blower runs with the engine off, or during long idling in traffic when electrical demand is high and alternator output is low. A weak battery shows it first.
Are short trips bad for the battery?
Yes. Starting the engine takes a large burst of energy, and a drive of a few minutes does not give the alternator time to put it back. Repeated short trips leave the battery partly charged, which encourages sulphation. A longer drive of 30 minutes once a week helps.
What are the warning signs of a weak battery?
The clearest sign is the engine turning over more slowly than usual. Others include dim headlights at idle, a battery warning light, start-stop no longer working, electrical glitches, a swollen case or a rotten-egg smell. Many batteries in hot climates fail with little warning, which is why testing matters.
How often should I test my battery?
Once a year is a sensible minimum, and before summer is the right moment. After the battery passes two years in the UAE, test it at every service or whenever starting feels slower. A test takes a few minutes and reports state of health, charge and charging voltage.
Questions
Warranty, payment and coverage
How long is the battery warranty?
Batteries we fit come with a warranty of up to 24 months. The exact period depends on the brand and battery type, and it is written on your invoice or warranty card at the time of fitting. Ask the technician to confirm the period before the battery goes in.
What does the warranty cover?
It covers manufacturing defects, meaning a battery that fails in normal use within the warranty period. It generally does not cover damage from a faulty alternator, accidents, incorrect fitting by others, physical damage, or a battery run flat by lights or accessories left on. The terms on your warranty card apply.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Contact us by WhatsApp or phone with your invoice or warranty card and the car details. A technician tests the battery and the charging system. If the test shows a defect covered by the warranty, the battery is replaced under the warranty terms. If the cause lies elsewhere, we explain what was found.
Can I pay with Tabby, Tamara or card?
Yes. We accept cash, card, Tabby and Tamara. Delivery to your location and fitting are free with a battery replacement. Tell us which method you prefer when you book, so the technician arrives with what is needed to take the payment on the spot.
Do you cover Abu Dhabi and Sharjah as well as Dubai?
Yes. The mobile service covers Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, including residential communities, business districts and industrial areas. Send your location pin and we confirm coverage and give an arrival estimate. The service areas page lists the districts we attend in each emirate.
Do you offer battery service for fleets?
Yes, fleet service is available on request. It suits companies running delivery vans, rental cars, staff transport or site vehicles that need batteries tested and replaced where the vehicles are parked. Contact us with the number and type of vehicles and where they are based, and we discuss the arrangement.
