Who makes Solite batteries and what they are known for
Solite is the battery brand of Hyundai Sungwoo in South Korea, a long-standing supplier to the Korean car industry. Its CMF series, short for calcium maintenance-free, is one of the most widely fitted batteries on Korean and Japanese cars in the Gulf. The brand also offers AGM for cars with start-stop.
Solite in UAE heat
CMF batteries use calcium alloy on both plates and a sealed lid, which cuts water loss and self-discharge compared with older antimony designs. Most have a built-in indicator eye that gives a quick view of charge state. The eye reads one cell only, so we still use a tester to judge a battery that has been through a few summers.

What does CMF mean on a Solite battery?
CMF stands for calcium maintenance-free. Both the positive and negative plates use calcium alloy and the case is sealed, so the battery does not need water added during its life. The numbers after CMF describe the size and capacity, which must match the car.
Is Solite the original battery in Hyundai and Kia cars?
Solite comes from Hyundai Sungwoo, a supplier to the Korean car industry, and Solite-made batteries are common in Korean cars. The battery in your own car may carry a different label, so we go by the size, type and rating printed on it when matching a replacement.
The indicator eye on my Solite is green but the car will not start. Why?
The eye is a float in one cell out of six. It can show green while another cell has failed or while the battery has lost its cranking ability. A load test gives the real answer. The fault can also be a loose terminal or the starter, which we check on site.
Does Solite make a battery for Kia or Hyundai with ISG?
Yes. ISG is the idle stop-and-go system on Hyundai and Kia, and those cars need an AGM battery. Solite AGM is made for that use. A standard CMF battery should not be fitted in its place, because it wears out quickly under stop-start cycling.
