Modern cars are full of control units that do not like voltage spikes. We use a regulated booster pack instead of a second car, connect at the points the manufacturer intends, and keep the leads away from moving parts. Many cars have dedicated jump posts under the bonnet even when the battery is in the boot.
Once the engine runs, the job is half done. The technician measures charging voltage and checks the battery condition. If it is healthy, you drive on and let the alternator recharge it. If it is failing, you hear that at the car, with the option to replace it there and then.

Is a jump start safe for a new car with start-stop?
Yes, when it is done with a regulated booster at the manufacturer jump points and in the right clamp order. The risk comes from reversed leads or poor connections, which is why a trained technician with the right equipment matters.
How long should I drive after a jump start?
A continuous drive of around 30 minutes or more gives the alternator a chance to put charge back. Short hops with the AC on full will not do it. If the car struggles again the next morning, the battery needs testing or replacing.
My car died again the next day. Why?
Either the battery can no longer hold charge, the alternator is not charging it, or something is draining it while parked. A test separates the three. Repeated jump starts on a worn battery only delay the replacement.
Can you jump start a car in a basement car park?
Yes. The booster is hand-carried, so the technician can park outside and walk down. Send the building name, parking level and bay number, and let security know if visitor access needs arranging.
