The Subaru Dex and its 12V battery
On older Subaru Dex model years the fault is sometimes a corroded terminal, a tired earth strap or a weak alternator, not the battery itself, which is why the charging system is tested before we recommend a replacement.

The battery is under the bonnet at the front corner of the engine bay on every Subaru commonly seen here, held by a top clamp bar with two long J-bolts. Access is open and no registration tool is required. After a disconnect, the engine idle can feel uneven for the first few minutes while the ECU relearns, and the driver window one-touch function may need resetting.
