On older Toyota FunCargo model years the fault is sometimes a corroded terminal, a tired earth strap or a weak alternator, not the battery itself, which is why the charging system is tested before we recommend a replacement.

Most of the range (Corolla, Camry, Yaris, Hilux, Land Cruiser, Prado) uses flooded or maintenance-free calcium batteries in Japanese JIS sizes. Models with stop-start need EFB or AGM. Hybrids such as the Prius and Camry Hybrid use a compact 12V auxiliary battery, usually AGM with a vent tube when it sits inside the cabin or boot.

On petrol and diesel Toyotas the battery is under the bonnet with a simple top clamp. On several hybrids the 12V battery is in the boot behind a side trim panel. No battery registration is needed. After the change, one-touch windows and the clock may need resetting, and the idle can take a short drive to settle.
