How Jaguar cars treat their batteries in the UAE

Battery technology

Modern Jaguars (XE, XF, F-Pace, E-Pace, F-Type and later XJ) use AGM main batteries, and many Stop/Start cars add a small auxiliary battery that keeps the electronics stable during restarts. Both age. A Stop/Start fault with a healthy main battery often points to the auxiliary one. Flooded batteries are only correct on older models such as the X-Type and S-Type.

Fitting and registration

On the XF, XE, XJ, F-Type and F-Pace the battery is in the boot under the floor panel; the E-Pace and I-Pace carry theirs under the bonnet beneath covers. A battery monitoring sensor sits on the negative terminal, so jump leads and chargers go to the body earth point. After replacement the monitoring system should be reset with a diagnostic tool so charging matches the new battery. With a dead battery the electric boot release may not work, and the under-bonnet jump posts are used to wake the car first.

Does a Jaguar need a battery reset after replacement?

Yes on modern models. The battery monitoring system tracks the age and charge of the old battery and adjusts charging to suit it. Resetting it with a diagnostic tool tells the car a new battery is fitted. Without the reset, Stop/Start may stay off and the new battery can be undercharged.

Where is the battery on a Jaguar XF or F-Pace?

In the boot, under the floor panel. Because the boot release is electric, a completely flat battery can leave it shut. The car has jump connection points under the bonnet, so the technician powers the car from there, opens the boot, then tests and replaces the battery.

Why does my Jaguar say low battery please start engine?

The car has measured a low state of charge and wants the alternator running before it sheds accessories. Seen once after listening to the radio with the engine off, it is normal. Seen daily, it usually means the battery has lost capacity and a proper test is due.

Can you replace the 12V battery on a Jaguar I-Pace at the roadside?
