The Infiniti Q45 and its 12V battery

On older Infiniti Q45 model years the fault is sometimes a corroded terminal, a tired earth strap or a weak alternator, not the battery itself, which is why the charging system is tested before we recommend a replacement.

Most Infiniti models in the UAE use a conventional flooded battery with a high cranking rating to suit V6 and V8 engines. Newer models with stop-start, such as recent QX50 and QX60 versions, need the EFB or AGM type they were built with. Hybrid versions have a separate high-voltage battery that we do not service at the roadside.

The battery is under the bonnet across the range. On Q50, G and FX/QX70 it sits at the back of the engine bay under a plastic cover near the bulkhead, which takes a few extra minutes to remove. QX80 and QX60 are more open. No coding is needed, but after power is disconnected the one-touch windows usually need resetting and the idle may be uneven for a short time while the engine relearns.
