Battery technology

Isuzu pickups and trucks mostly use conventional flooded batteries chosen for cranking power and vibration resistance. Stop-start is uncommon on Gulf-market models, so AGM is rarely required, but we follow whatever is fitted. Many light trucks carry two batteries, and some run a 24V system, which changes how they are tested and jump-started.

Fitting and registration

On D-Max and MU-X the battery is under the bonnet with open access. On NPR and similar cab-over trucks the batteries sit in a carrier on the chassis rail, exposed to road dirt, so terminals and the carrier need cleaning at every change. No coding is needed. Before any jump start on a truck we confirm whether it is a 12V or 24V system, because the wrong voltage damages electronics.

What battery does an Isuzu D-Max take?

A flooded battery with enough cranking power for the diesel engine and the correct case size and terminal layout for the tray. The exact size depends on the model year and engine. Send a photo of the label on the current battery and we match it before the technician sets off.

Can you jump-start an Isuzu NPR truck?
